I have walked over hills
I have walked in valleys that made me shudder
I have broken my youth and my youth has broken me
I am an old youth
I have walked in this forest before
The trees with lush green leaves brushing my face
Twigs breaking beneath my bare feet
I have slept cushioned by mushrooms
The sun shone on my face and the world was under my feet
My exuberant passion has bore me my seed
My pride and joy
I walked in the dark forest when the leaves had fallen
The tree branches reduced to mere resemblance
The brushing turned to scratching
The stranger who threw me down on the thorns
The thorns pierced my flesh and as they sank into me I sank lower than the ground
More twigs broke beneath me
My story remained untold and when told it became a myth
I can still smell his stink on my skin
His ravenous breath haunts me in the night
His face infected my mind and his semen infected my blood
I pulled my dress up and continued my walk in the forest my delicate feet treading carefully trying not to step on any more twigs
Now years later im still walking ,my bed has been prepared for me once more
Rain has fallen again
The mushrooms flourish once more
But the stranger took it all
He broke more than I can recover
The few words embedded on a piece of paper written to apologise out of duty can never fill the void in me.
So in my mind I trace my path in the forest and pick up all the twigs that broke under my feet, the twigs that broke under my back, the twigs that broke under the back of my head
My marriage, my career, my health, my future
I can not hold back my tears
But still I have to continue this journey that I started for my seed, my son
Cursed to be a spinster for ever
