Loving Me First, Before Loving You – Poem
By Anesu B. Mawarire
I am truly love sick starved.
That D meant the world, stars and the moon to me.
Now that u are gone all i have are diluted memories.
Mixed with reality and yearning of past pleasures.
I see u in my dreams, i scream your name when I can in pleasure and often in my dreams.
You ripped the best part of me away.
You taught me how to be independent in a rhetoric way.
You never told me once that u loved me.
Now i know why! You wanted me to love me first before I loved u first.
I looked for love in you that I couldnt find in me, how ironic. Pouring from an empty cup? I want to say that I have grown but no I am still there at the same place you left me.
Whats different now is that i live for me now and not for what i see in you about me.
Teach me how to love me and maybe one day I will learn to love me too.
