THE PEOPLE’S RAPPER HITS ANOTHER MILESTONE

Bulawayo based rapper ASAPH has yet again defied the odds by having visuals for his latest project dubbed Mhoroi (better known as Like So) aired on the South African music channel Channel O. This arguably makes him one of the very few Zimbabwean MCs who have had their craft appreciated by the channel, an achievement that a huge chunk of mainstream artists have failed to achieve throughout their careers.
The video has a simple script to it, having being shot in its entirety at Bulawayo’s City Hall entrance. The quality is quite worth noting, a definite hats off to the production crew. However considering the simplicity of script and rather a normal budget investment on the shoot, one can definitely agree that its not the visuals that got the attention of the Channel but rather the intricacy and hype within the bars ASAPH spits on the joint. With no shred of doubt, ASAPH is on his way to engaging with bigger powerhouses in the culture.
And as such, good craft can never be noticed in the absence of good management. His management brands Paper Bag Africa and LitLife Media have been putting in the work to give the rapper the exposure he deserves. The hiphop culture would grow in leaps and bounds if it had a handful of such brand management houses.
ASAPH took to the scene late 2018 with his single Mambo and ever since he has taken strides foward in his career. Some of his major achievements include winning the best Hiphop accolade twice at the prestigious Bulawayo Arts Awards, featuring international Dj, Dj Stavo as well as being enlisted on Burna Boy’s Zimbabwe Edition of his International African Giant Tour.
